Kirkcaldy Foodbank is appealing to local people and businesses to mark World Hunger Day by donating food or money.
The appeal comes as the charity deals with continuing food cost pressures.
World Hunger Day 2026 is on Thursday, May 28, focusing on the theme ‘The End of Hunger is in our Hands’.
Led by The Hunger Project - a global movement aimed at creating a world without hunger - the theme of World Hunger Day this year aims to highlight sustainable solutions to hunger and raise awareness for more than 820 million people in chronic hunger around the world.
It focuses on individual contributions - from planting seeds to leading local actions - to spark change.
Locally, Kirkcaldy Foodbank reported an average of 1000 visits every month during 2025.
On average, more than 650 adults and 240 children (30%) received food every month.
Over the year, 2133 adults and 971 children received food from the foodbank at least once.
Foodbank chair Norah Smith said: “While hunger is very much a global issue, we are still helping hundreds of people a week in the Kirkcaldy area who would otherwise be going without basic food.
“We need your support on World Hunger Day and every day to ensure that nobody goes hungry in Kirkcaldy.”
