Kirkcaldy Foodbank invites applications for co-ordinator role

Updated: Apr 27

Kirkcaldy Foodbank is a registered charity, operating across Kirkcaldy to support people experiencing food insecurity and help prevent poverty.

It operates over three hubs, with 110 volunteers, ensuring that there is access to food across five days for those who need it.

The foodbank works with a range of partners, referring foodbank customers for additional support which helps them address wider poverty issues and reduces the need for the foodbank. This might include welfare support, budgeting and money advice and much more.

The organisation has grown to the extent that a co-ordinator is required to ensure the smooth running of the day-to-day operations and ensure the foodbank is sustainable into the future. The charity has secured funding for two years to create this post.

We are therefore looking to appoint someone to the post below:

Post: Kirkcaldy Foodbank co-ordinator

Hours: 25 hours (to be worked flexibly over the week) on a two-year fixed term contract (to be reviewed)

Salary: £24,306 (£35,000 pro rata)

The job description and person specification can be found here and applicants should read these carefully before applying.

The successful applicant will be passionate about the prevention of food insecurity and wider poverty. They will have considerable experience of working for the foodbank in a paid or voluntary capacity and demonstrate a good understanding of the challenges of day-to-day operations, showing creativity in finding solutions where issues arise.

They will be confident in the use of technology and be able to support volunteers in its use. They will be compassionate, have excellent communication skills and be able to engage with a range of people, including foodbank customers, volunteers, partners and the wider community. Applicants must have a live connection with Kirkcaldy Foodbank.

A letter of application should be submitted by email to fiona.walker@kirkcaldyfoodbankcharity.org.uk. The letter of application must demonstrate that the applicant meets the person specification and has the experience and ability to carry out the main tasks of the role as stated in the job description, stating clearly past experience.

Should applicants wish to discuss the post or have any questions, they should contact Norah Smith, chair, by email on norah.smith@kirkcaldyfoodbankcharity.org.uk in the first instance.

The closing date for applications is Friday, May 8, 2026.
